Postgraduate Options

Postgraduate study is an increasingly popular option for many graduates. Approximately 30 per cent of graduates go on to further study, whether part-time or full-time, research or coursework. If you are contemplating postgraduate study this section provides useful information about postgraduate options in different disciplines.

Creative & Performing Arts

This is, so far as academia is concerned, a new field of study, and like other new fields it is still finding its feet. The cultures of two powerful and long-established social institutions – the university and the world of the arts – are mixing, but uneasily. There are big differences in the extent to which the various universities and, indeed, the disciplines (music, dance, visual arts, film, etc.) demand that students both perform/practise an art of craft and analyse/comment on it. Entry requirements vary accordingly, from those defined quite tightly in terms of academic qualifications to those which use your performance/practice track record as the sole criterion.

Depending on your particular bent you may find specialisations of interest in fields like Communications or Design.
