Graduate Careers Australiaergo - Number 87 June 2002Student Career Development Takes A Step Up At VUA panoramic vista encompassing the Maribyrnong River, Flemington Racecourse, city, suburbs and hills greeted seventy visitors and colleagues who joined Victoria University careers staff to celebrate the opening of their new Student Career Development Centre on Friday April 19th. The Centre was formally opened by the University's Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Jim Falk.
A New Base For Career Services Programmes offered so far this year include the usual run of events, plus the launch of a student portfolio system; ‘Careers in the Caf’ at lunchtimes when careers educators visit the cafeterias to offer informal careers advice; resume checking via email; a Career Planning elective available to all higher education students; the Career Bridge Mentoring programme; a Careers Fair “The Graduate Employment Stakes”; and participation in the Young Achievement Australia and HEWSO competitions.
