Graduate Grapevine - Number 6, December 2006

Profile: Welcome to Anton Griffith

Anton Griffith is the latest addition to the GCA team, and this coincides with an exciting time of development and expansion for our research department. Joining us in March 2006, Anton took up the role of Research/Surveys Officer, working closely alongside Bruce Guthrie and Graeme Bryant. Anton’s major role is assisting with the conduct, analysis and reporting of the Australian Graduate Survey, as well as other research and related projects. In 2007 he will also assist in coordinating the 2007 Virtual Careers Fair. In the eclectic environment of GCA, however, Anton has found his role usually stretches to most things around the office, from liaising with foreign officials to the occasional serving of tea.

Anton comes to us from Aotearoa, Land of the Long White Cloud (Wellington to be precise), where he completed a BA (Hons), and MA in the obscure but fascinating field of Human Geography (not the study of belly-button distribution). After working as a research assistant on an academic textbook and a sub-editor for an inter-disciplinary journal, he moved to Melbourne to take up a role in journal publishing. However, he soon realised he preferred working at research than around it, and sought out his current role here at GCA.

As the youngest member of the GCA team and a recent graduate himself, Anton likes to think he has an edge when it comes to understanding graduate-related matters, particularly those to do with going out on the town. Anton can often be found enjoying Melbourne’s many excellent bars, café’s and restaurants, browsing bookshops or cycling though the city’s many parks. He also enjoys a good non-fiction read, cinema of all description and the great outdoors.

Welcome Anton from all of us here at GCA!
