Association of Graduate Recruiters Conference
Imagine an annual graduate recruiters’ conference with over 400 attendees, and 38 exhibitors! Imagine being a visitor from Australia at a conference in Wales learning American line-dancing from an English instructor! Imagine leaving an Australian winter and going to 30+ degree temperatures. Such were my experiences when I attended the recent Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) conference at the exclusive Cardiff Manor resort in Wales in early July.
The conference was a great success and covered a wide range of keynote addresses, workshop sessions and social activities. But even though the numbers were larger than we see at the Australian conferences, the majority of areas of interest and issues facing recruiters in the UK appear to be very similar to those faced by Australian recruiters – the theme of the conference, ‘Recruit, Retain and Return on Investment’, indicates this similarity.
I took the opportunity to catch up with some existing international contacts and to make lots of new friends. Hopefully, we’ll see a number of these people at our Tripartite conference, ‘Get Ready, Get Set, Careers for the New World’ in Sydney in November.
