Careers 'Gateway' Websites

The term ‘gateway site’ means that the website is a site that opens ‘gates’ or offers a range of links to a great deal of related information in a specific area. Another term used in a similar way is ‘portal’. In this publication the term ‘gateway’ has the same meaning as ‘portal’.

Gateways provide the user with easy access to a multitude of sites, they therefore significantly reduce search times as they provide links to related sites. Good gateways generally ensure the quality of the sites to which they are linked.

Gateway sites are set up by governments, institutions and commercial entities. There are only a few careers gateway sites in Australia, examples include:

It is also the portal to GradsOnline , another GCA website, offering statistics on graduate activities, salaries and jobs according to degree level and Field of Education.

The Australian Government’s online career exploration site, myfuture, provides a comprehensive resource for all aspects of job-seeking.
