National Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (NAGCAS)
The National Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (NAGCAS (Aust.) Inc.
is the professional association for the staff of Careers Services in Higher Education. Careers Services are the first point of contact for students and recent graduates who are seeking careers information and advice on graduate employment.

The objectives of NAGCAS include:
- development of professional skills and high standards of performance in Higher Education Careers Services
- promotion of an understanding of the role of Careers Services and the needs of their clients
- development of links with appropriate professional bodies, including GCA and employer and careers practitioner associations, in Australia and overseas
- provision of a professional viewpoint in appropriate forums on policy issues relating to career development and graduate outcomes.
As well as regular meetings and events, NAGCAS holds a major annual conference with top Australian and international speakers. The conference is accessible to anyone with a professional interest in careers education and graduate employment.
Projects and Initiatives
NAGCAS stages HEWSO with support from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, GCA, Universities Australia, AAGE, Business Council of Australia and other sponsors from within government, business and industry. HEWSO connects university students with a host employer to work on a real business challenge/problem for their employer host. Working in multi disciplinary teams, the students research and then report on the problem one month later (via an in person presentation and the preparation of a business report and a website summary). HEWSO is conducted in a competition framework with the strongest team from each university judged against the winning team from other participating universities.
